The workshop that runs from 20 till 30 July 2026 aims to understand the uses and risks of AI in the administration of Justice, with a focus on criminal justice, whilst seizing its opportunities
This workshop examines the transformative impact of artificial intelligence and digital technology on modern criminal justice systems. Participants will deconstruct common misconceptions about AI while analyzing the legal and moral implications of emerging tools, including machine learning, predictive analytics, and facial recognition. The program balances the potential for AI to enhance public safety with a critical focus on ethics, transparency, and human rights.
Furthermore, students will receive practical training in AI-driven legal research and legal drafting for academic and judicial purposes. This shall provide participants with fundamental understanding of the logic and processes behind AI training for legal applications.
Registration fees: 400 Euros. Registration is open untill available places are full.
The fees does not include accommodation or transportation. Yet the GIU Berlin will provide an invitation letter addressed for the visa application. Also a list of potential options for accommodation is found at the registration step for reference.
